1. Purpose
This manual explains when to take an EOD pin butterfly, how the timing windows work, and how to combine the pin system with the structure system.
This manual is meant to sit beside the broader EOD Pin & Day Structure Manual.
The short version:
EOD Pin Magnet = what the butterfly is
EOD Pin Structure Command = whether a new butterfly is allowed
EOD Pin Compass = how to manage the active pin zone
EOD Butterfly Timing = when the trade is worth taking
The main problem we are solving:
The later you wait, the more expensive and directional the butterfly becomes. The earlier you enter, the cheaper it is, but the pin is less confirmed.
So the job of the timing model is to separate:
cheap lottery opportunity
from
confirmed but expensive settlement bet
from
too-late/no-edge scalp zone
---
2. Should This Be One Manual or Two?
Best structure:
Manual 1:
EOD Pin & Day Structure Manual
= explains the three panels, pin structure, Omega, Charm, day structure, and decision logic.
Manual 2:
EOD Butterfly Timing & Execution Manual
= explains when to enter, what each time window means, and how to execute/manage the butterfly.
Keep them separate.
Reason:
The first manual explains the system.
The second manual explains the trading workflow.
If combined into one huge manual, it becomes harder to use live.
The two-manual setup is cleaner:
Manual 1 = what the engine is saying
Manual 2 = what to do with it
---
Part 1 — The Core Idea
3. What an EOD Pin Butterfly Is
An EOD pin butterfly is a trade built around the idea that price may migrate back toward a specific pin body near the end of the session.
Example:
ES Pin: 7270
Wings: 7265 / 7275
Butterfly:
+1 7265
-2 7270
+1 7275
The goal is not just to predict the close.
The goal is:
Buy the butterfly when price is far enough from the pin that the fly is cheap.
Then profit if price returns toward the pin zone.
That means the best trade is usually not when price is already sitting on the pin.
---
4. The Main Rule
A pin is not automatically a trade.
A new butterfly needs:
1. Valid pin body/wings
2. Strong enough confidence
3. Price far enough from the pin
4. Approved time window
5. Day structure supports the pin
6. Charm does not block return
7. Omega does not fight the return
8. Compass is not already inside the pin zone
If price is already inside the pin zone:
NO NEW BUTTERFLY
SCALP ONLY
---
Part 2 — The Updated Timing Model
5. Why the Old Timing Model Changed
The older idea was:
10:00–12:00 = discovery only
12:30–2:00 = early lottery
2:00–3:00 = confirmed EOD fly
after 3:30 = scalp/settlement only
That was directionally right, but the review data improved it.
The fixed-window review showed:
ES can be valid earlier than expected, especially 10:00–11:00.
NQ is strongest around 11:00.
RTY should not be traded from this model yet.
So the updated model is:
ES:
10:00–11:00 = best early window
11:00–12:00 = strong prime window
12:00–14:00 = conditional
14:00–15:00 = late confirmation only
15:00+ = settlement/scalp only
NQ:
10:00 = conditional
11:00 = best window
12:00 = conditional
14:00 = conditional with wide wings
15:00+ = avoid new butterflies
RTY:
No EOD pin butterfly for now
---
6. The Time Modes
The engine should classify every moment into one of these modes:
DISCOVERY
EARLY_STALK
PRIME_ENTRY
CONDITIONAL
CONFIRMED_EOD
LATE_SETTLEMENT
TOO_LATE
These modes should show in the UI and in the logs.
---
Part 3 — Time Window Definitions
7. DISCOVERY
Typical time:
Before 10:00
Purpose:
Build pin candidates
Watch which body/wings appear
Watch confidence stabilize
Watch Charm and structure form
Trade action:
No normal butterfly
No forced trade
Observation only
What to look for:
Same pin appearing repeatedly
Confidence rising
Pin near structure
Omega not escaping away
Charm channel forming
---
8. EARLY_STALK
Typical time:
ES: around 10:00
NQ: 10:00 only if very clean
Purpose:
Cheap lottery-style entry if the structure is already strong.
This is the earliest true opportunity.
Requirements:
Pin confidence valid
Price far enough from pin
Pin near day structure
Charm supportive or neutral
Omega not fighting return
Asset/time window approved
For ES:
10:00 can be a valid EARLY_STALK / PRIME window.
For NQ:
10:00 is conditional, not automatic.
Trade style:
Small size
Cheap fly
Do not overpay
Must have clear structure
---
9. PRIME_ENTRY
Typical time:
ES: 10:00–12:00
NQ: 11:00
Purpose:
Best balance between price and confirmation.
This is where the system should be most willing to allow normal EOD pin butterflies.
Requirements:
ES:
confidence >= 55%
distance >= 6 points
better distance >= 10 points
NQ:
confidence >= 45%
distance >= 40 points
better distance >= 70 points
wide wings required
Trade action:
Allowed if Structure Command says TAKE_PIN.
---
10. CONDITIONAL
Typical time:
ES: 12:00–14:00
NQ: 10:00, 12:00, 14:00
Purpose:
Trade only if multiple systems agree.
Requirements become stricter:
Higher confidence
Better distance
Charm supports return
Omega supports return
Pin near strong structure cluster
No Compass warning
Trade action:
Take only A-quality setups.
Skip marginal setups.
---
11. CONFIRMED_EOD
Typical time:
2:15–3:00
Purpose:
More confirmation, but worse pricing.
The pin may be more reliable, but the fly may no longer be cheap.
Use this window only when:
Pin is stable
Distance is still good
Price is not inside the pin zone
Charm/Omega/structure strongly support return
Trade action:
Selective entry only
No chasing
No overpaying
---
12. LATE_SETTLEMENT
Typical time:
3:00–3:30
Purpose:
Settlement management, not normal lottery entry.
By this time:
The fly is often more expensive.
The market may already be near the body.
Spread quality may be worse.
Risk/reward is less lottery-like.
Trade action:
Only if very specific.
Prefer management/scalp/reclaim logic.
---
13. TOO_LATE
Typical time:
After 3:30
Purpose:
No normal new butterfly.
Action:
SCALP ONLY
PIN RECLAIM ONLY
SETTLEMENT MANAGEMENT ONLY
This is where the Compass matters most.
If Compass says:
PIN ZONE
NO NEW BUTTERFLY
SCALP ONLY
listen to it.
---
Part 4 — Asset-Specific Rules
14. ES Rules
ES is currently the best product for this model.
Best windows:
10:00
11:00
Conditional:
12:00
15:00 only special case
Weak:
14:00
Minimum requirements:
confidence >= 55%
distance from pin >= 6 points
good distance >= 10 points
Use ES first.
---
15. NQ Rules
NQ is tradeable, but it needs wider wings and wider tolerance.
Best window:
11:00
Conditional windows:
10:00
12:00
14:00
Avoid:
15:00
Minimum requirements:
confidence >= 45%
distance from pin >= 40 points
good distance >= 70 points
wide wings required
NQ cannot be judged like ES.
A 20–30 point miss on NQ may still be a valid pin-style return.
---
16. RTY Rules
RTY is currently not approved.
Rule:
No RTY EOD pin butterflies.
Why:
The review did not show reliable return-to-pin behavior.
Expiration structure may differ.
Target logic may need separate handling.
Keep logging RTY, but do not trade it from this model.
---
Part 5 — How the Panels Work Together
17. EOD Pin Magnet
Question:
What is the pin?
Example:
PIN 7270
WINGS 7265 / 7275
CONF 85%
Use it to identify the candidate butterfly.
Do not use it alone to enter.
---
18. EOD Pin Structure Command
Question:
Can I take a new butterfly?
Possible decisions:
TAKE_PIN
WAIT
NO_TRADE
This is the main new-entry gate.
A new butterfly should only be considered when this panel says:
TAKE_PIN
---
19. EOD Pin Compass
Question:
What is price doing around the pin right now?
Important reads:
PIN ZONE
NO NEW BUTTERFLY
SCALP ONLY
If price is inside the pin zone, the new butterfly edge is poor.
Compass is for:
execution
management
scalp-only logic
settlement behavior
---
Part 6 — Entry Decision Tree
20. New Butterfly Decision
Before entering a new EOD butterfly, ask:
1. Is the asset ES or NQ?
2. Is the current time window allowed?
3. Is confidence high enough?
4. Is price far enough from the pin?
5. Is the pin near real structure?
6. Does Charm support or at least not block return?
7. Does Omega support or at least not fight return?
8. Is Compass outside the pin zone?
If any major condition fails:
NO_TRADE
If most conditions are good but one is uncertain:
WAIT
If all required conditions align:
TAKE_PIN
---
21. When Price Is Too Close
If price is already close to the pin:
NO_TRADE
PRICE_TOO_CLOSE_TO_PIN
This is not a bad pin.
It means:
The opportunity already collapsed into the body.
The butterfly is no longer cheap enough.
Example:
ES pin 7270
Tape 7269.25
Distance 0.75
Decision: NO_TRADE
---
22. When Price Is Far Enough
Example:
ES pin 7270
Tape 7260
Distance 10
Confidence 85
Time 10:30
Charm supportive
Omega reverting toward pin
Decision: TAKE_PIN
This is the kind of setup the system is designed to catch.
---
Part 7 — Charm in the Timing Model
23. Why Charm Matters
Charm can tell us where dealer hedging pressure is likely to create:
floor
ceiling
pin gravity
return path
blocking wall
For butterflies, Charm answers:
Does dealer pressure support a return to the pin?
Good reads:
CHARM SUPPORTS PIN RETURN
CHARM MODERATELY SUPPORTIVE
Bad read:
CHARM BLOCKS PIN RETURN
If Charm blocks return:
NO_TRADE
---
24. Charm and Entry Time
Earlier in the day, Charm helps confirm whether the pin has real structure behind it.
At 10:00–11:00:
Charm support is very valuable because the trade is cheaper but less confirmed.
Later in the day:
Charm blocking return becomes more dangerous because there is less time for correction.
---
Part 8 — Omega in the Timing Model
25. Omega’s Job
Omega tells us timing and pressure.
Good for return:
OMEGA_REVERSION_SUPPORTS_PIN
OMEGA_CHECKPOINT_NEAR_PIN
OMEGA_NEUTRAL
Bad:
OMEGA_ESCAPE_RISK
If Omega is escaping away from the pin, do not force the butterfly.
---
26. Omega and Timing
At early windows:
Omega helps prevent early bad entries.
At late windows:
Omega helps determine whether the pin is still reclaimable or has failed.
If Compass says price is inside the pin zone and Omega is neutral:
No new butterfly.
If price is far from pin and Omega is reverting toward pin:
Potential TAKE_PIN if structure and timing also agree.
---
Part 9 — Review Findings
27. What the Fixed-Time Review Showed
The fixed-window review tested:
10:00
11:00
12:00
14:00
15:00
It did not pick hindsight entries.
It asked:
At this fixed time, was the setup valid?
Was price far enough from the pin?
Did price later return to the pin tolerance?
The results showed:
ES is strongest.
NQ is usable with wider wings.
RTY is not ready.
---
28. Current Best Playbook
ES:
Primary: 10:00 and 11:00
Conditional: 12:00
Avoid as primary: 14:00
Late/special only: 15:00
NQ:
Primary: 11:00
Conditional: 10:00, 12:00, 14:00
Avoid: 15:00
RTY:
No trade
---

---
32. NQ Too Late
Time: 15:00
Asset: NQ
Pin valid
Distance valid
Confidence valid
Action:
Avoid new NQ butterfly.
Current review does not support 15:00 NQ entries.
---
Part 11 — Practical Rules
33. Do This
Trade ES first.
Use 10:00–11:00 as primary windows.
Use NQ mostly at 11:00.
Use wider NQ wings.
Require distance from pin.
Require Structure Command approval.
Use Compass for management.
Log everything.
34. Do Not Do This
Do not trade just because confidence is high.
Do not trade inside the pin zone.
Do not trade RTY.
Do not trade NQ at 15:00.
Do not wait for perfect convergence if the goal is cheap lottery pricing.
Do not ignore Charm/Omega.
---
Part 12 — Final Summary
The updated EOD butterfly timing model is:
ES:
10:00–11:00 is the best opportunity zone.
NQ:
11:00 is the best opportunity zone.
RTY:
Do not trade.
After 3:30:
No normal new butterfly.
Scalp / pin-reclaim / settlement only.
The most important live rule:
A good pin is not enough. You need the right time, enough distance, supportive structure, and a return path.
